Between Friends: Blog Tour Stop & Review

 photo TourBanner-6_zps2be03ce0.png

The only way to have a friend is to be one…especially between the sheets…

When neurotically challenged and unlucky in love Megan Daniels, is propositioned by her life-long friend Ben Romano with a coin toss (heads, they sleep together, tails they don’t) the night before they are about to attend a destination wedding, she drunkenly accepts his challenge. But when Megan wakes up the next morning with a bad hang-over and Ben in her bed, she is more than mortified. It isn’t until the tropical heat begins to ignite emotions Megan never ever believed she could possibly have, that she starts to question if risking their friendship is the answer to finding true love.

“Heads we do it, tails we don't.”

This was a fun, cute, book that would be perfect for your next Summer read.  I love the whole 'friends turning into more' storyline.

Megan, unfortunately was a little hard for me to love.  She did seem to be a bit on the whinny side and I always have a difficult time falling in love with a character that acts like that.  She also took quite a bit of abuse from her friends, but we will get to them in more detail in a little bit, because they deserve their own section.  Megan also had a way of keeping a lot of her feelings and emotions bottled inside.  I just wanted to shake her and tell her to open up and speak her mind.

“I love how his tight whit V-neck t-shirt clings to his muscular chest and how his five o'clock shadow is growing in perfectly on his tanned skin. ”

Ben however, was not hard to love at all because he was so very sweet.  It is obvious from the start that Ben feels more for Megan than what she believes he does.  I never doubted his feelings for her, and watching their relationship slowly turn into something more was very nice.  Yes, he has had a wild past, one that Megan takes a bit to get over, but his affection for her is clear.

And the steam factor?  These two are hot together, there is no mistaking that.  Like jump in the back of the car, strip off your clothes, I want you right now, kinda hot.

“Ben leans over and whispers in my ear, “I missed you.”

I bite my lip and whisper that I missed him too.  He leans back in his chair all calm and collected, while I break out in a sweat, just hearing him say those three little words.”

Now the bad, and I mean the very bad... Megan's friends.  There is not one single redeeming quality from any of them, and I'm not quite sure why anybody would put up these women.  Is the author trying to show us how kind and considerate Megan is for allowing herself to put up with these women?  I just wanted to throat punch the lot of them and have done with it.  Jessica was the worst, I can't even let her off the hook because she was nervous about her wedding.  She was just plain rude.

Megan’s Maid-of-Honor Checklist
By Jessica Marie Ellis (best friend and bride to be!)

1. Four No wait, FIVE paris of Spanx (Michelle might need to double up. She didn’t lose the 10 pounds like she promised)

2. Double sided tape is a MUST!!!  Oh, and don’t forget to pack a little extra padding for yourself. Flat chests are a no-no on my big day.

3. Breath mints.  I prefer Altoids, but a Clorets will do.  Stephanie always has raunchy breath. It is your duty to make sure she has a pack at all times.

All in all, I would recommend Between Friends for a fun, quick read.  I managed to read it all in one sitting, and the story does flow nicely.  The location is stunning and it truly makes you want to hop on a plane tomorrow for the sun and surf.  Between the ocean, sand, and sunsets... it all really sets the mood for a lovely romance.

“He presses against me and gently whispers in my ear, “Can’t you see I’m crazy about you?”

I whip around, “You’re crazy about a lot of girls.”  I say letting the pain cut through my voice.

Ben flinches from my words, “No Megan, just you.”

I thought it was a pretty fun read, but I also wanted to beat her over the head regularly....
