My Rating: 5 Stars

I am so happy with Knight & Stay. I was hoping that Sophie and Lucien's story would get a wonderful ending, and I am so excited with how it all turned out.

“…then she was Sophie Black, the girl who surprised him.  He'd never met anyone quite like her before.  On first glance she was quiet and unassuming, but scratch the surface and she was spectacular.”

In fact, I have to say I loved everything about this second instalment.  Of course we all knew in Knight & Play that Sophie and Lucien were starting to have feelings for each other but it is only now that they are really coming to light.  Sophie is still fighting through her guilt over her husband's affair, and Lucien is doing anything he can to talk himself out of having feelings.  He comes up with every reason in the book to avoid the big bad L word.

“Theirs was a closeness that went way beyond physical proximity.  She was under his skin.  Moving closer to his heart.  He just didn’t know it yet, because no one else had ever found the pathway before.”

The steam factor is again sky high.  In fact, there is one scene that was beyond any kind of sex scene that I have ever read.  Like ever.  But it has never just been about the sex with these two.  From the very beginning you could tell there was more.  And by the time we get to the end of their story, there is a deep love and understanding.

“The plain fact was that this thing between them wasn’t basic chemistry.  It was lethal, combustible dynamite, and it was only going to be made ten times more difficult by denial. ”

There are seriously so many fun parts.  Sophie and Lucien decide that they are going to remain colleagues but Sophie institutes a no flirting or touching rule.  As if that was ever going to last?  Lucien pulls out all of the stops to prove to her that they can remain co-workers while still having some fun together.  Then he takes her to Paris, the city of Love... who could resist Lucien at any point in time?  But then to throw in Paris?  Yeah, I would cave pretty quickly also.

“You asked me in Paris how many women I'd loved.  I said one.  I should have said two."He cupped her cheek, his thumb rubbing over her bottom lip.  "As a child I loved my mother, and as a man I love you.”

We are also given a beautiful epilogue.  I love when authors add these in, it's way to get a glimpse into their future.  Yes the happily ever after is important, but we want that solid proof that they are still happy and in love.

These are pretty short books, so a lot of time is not required to read them both.  I strongly recommend them to lovers of this genre.  The characters are multi-layered and the storyline is intriguing.. it's not all just about the amazing sex.  But it helps that there is plenty of it.

“I don't want to wake up and find you're not really here," he whispered, not yet opening his eyes.

"I'm really here. ”
